NURSING HOME
ABUSE, NEGLECT and MISTREATMENT
We
represent elderly victims of abuse, neglect and
mistreatment and their families.
Many nursing homes
are understaffed, which is often a corporate
directive to put profits ahead of patient care.
Understaffing leads to resident inattention,
resulting in dehydration, malnutrition, medication
administration errors, and bedsores. Federal and
state laws and regulations make clear that a
resident who enters a nursing home without bedsores
should not develop bedsores. Dehydration and
malnutrition can result due to the nursing home’s
failure to take the appropriate time and
effort to feed the resident. Also, proper
assessments and precautions must be taken to prevent
falls from occurring.
Our elderly have the
right to be treated with dignity, quality care, and
respect. We handle these in an effort to motivate
nursing homes to maintain and improve the quality of
care for the present and future residents.
