Rhode Island Dram Shop Liability
Dram shop
liability refers to the responsibility of a
tavern, restaurant or other business that over sells alcohol to
its
customers who then cause harm to another.
The law firm of
Mandell, Schwartz & Boisclair
represents the victims of drunk driving accidents. In
seeking just compensation for our clients, we do not stop
with the drunk driver (or their insurance company).
The Rhode Island Liquor
Liability Act
provides causes of
action if a drunk driver had been over-served
alcohol at a Rhode Island bar or restaurant,
therefore, we also look at making the establishment
responsible.
In addition, serving
alcohol to minors is illegal in Rhode Island and the
seller may be held responsible not only when an
intoxicated minor that they served hurts someone,
but when they injure themselves as well.
